Vikram Sarabhai Bio:
Vikram Sarabhai Full name is Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai was born on 12 August 1919 and was considered as India’s space program. She was an Indian scientist and developer widely. In 1962 she was awarded Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Medal. He was honored with nation Padma Bhushan in 1966 and Padma Vibhushan in 1972. Dr. Vikram Sarabhai is one of the great Indian scientists. He came from the popular Sarabhai family of India, and Sheth Ambala Sarabhai, where they were major industrialists decided to the Indian independence movement. He was married to classical dancer Mrinalini in 1942.

They had two children. His daughter Mallika famed as an actress and activist, and his son Kartikeya Sarabhai is also an active person in science. In his lifetime, he practiced Jainism and belongs to Shrimal Jain community of Ahmedabad. He is regarded as the greatest scientists of India and also the father of the Indian space research program.
Dr. Vikram Sarabhai was honored with Dr.Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in the 1962 year. In 1966 he was awarded nation prestigious award Padma Shri Award and Padma Vibhushan in 1972. Vikram Sarabhai has also earned some respective positions such as President of the Physics section, Indian Science Congress in 1962 In 1970 worked as the president of the General Conference of the I.A.E.A Verina, Vice President, In 1971 with his innovative ideas, Fourth U.N.Conference on peaceful uses of Atomic Energy in 1971. His mother name is Sarla Devi. His family was involved in the freedom struggle of the country, and many leaders used to visit his house like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Moti Lal Nehru and Rabindranath Tagore. This is one of the reasons inspiring young mind of Vikram Sarabhai in developing his personality. He discovered a new field of research in solar and interplanetary Physics.
Vikram Sarabhai is also known as the cradle of space sciences in India, the Physical Research Laboratory was established in 1947 by Vikram Sarabhai. PRL had started at his house, the RETREAT, with research on cosmic rays. The organization was started at the M.G.Science Institute, Ahmedabad, on November 11, 1947, with the help of Karmkshetra Educational Foundation and the Ahmedabad Education Society. Prof. Kalpathi Ramakrishna Ramanathan was the first director of the organization. The main focus was on cosmic rays research and the properties of the upper atmosphere. Research places were enlarged to involve theoretical physics and radio physics and then funds from Atomic Energy Commission.
PRL is involving in research, and including five major fields of science. PRL means PLANEX planetary science and exploration program. By Sarabhai Vikram A. Its aim is to develop interest, encourage and follow the principles of science and scientific method and also stimulate and obtain innovative methods of science education. One of the great achievement is the establishment of ISRO-Indian Space Research Organization. After the Russian Sputnik launch, he explained the importance of space program of Indian government for developing country like India. Sarabhai explained the necessary of a space program. Some people questions the need of space activities in a developing country. We do not have the need of competing with the economically advanced nations in the enlarged of the moon or the planets or manned space fight.
We must be second except in the application of advanced technologies to the real problems of man and society and us paly the role of nationally, and community of nations. Homi Jehangir Bhabha, named as the father of Indias nuclear science program, supported Sarabhai in getting the first rocket launching station in India. This center was located at Thumba near Thiruvananthapuram on the coast of the Arabian Sea, which is near to the equator. After a great effort in establishing the infrastructure, personnel, communication links, and launch pads, the inaugural flight was launched on November 21, 1963, by a sodium vapor payload. In 1975 from a Russian Cosmodrome he put in orbit and discovered the first satellite by Aryabhata. He had interests in different fields like sports, science, and statistics.
He arranged operations research group, the first market research institute in the nation. Most preferred among them are the Nehru Foundation for Development in Ahmedabad and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, the Center for Environmental Planning and Technology and Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s Research Association. He also began the Blind Men Association which supports visually challenged, people. He established the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts with the support of his wife Mrinalini Sarabhai. Other institutions set up by him involves the Faster Breeder Test Reactor in Kalpakkam, and in Calcutta Variable Energy Cyclotron project, Electronics Corporation of India Limited in Hyderabad and Uranium Corporation of India Limited in Jadugudu, Jharkhand. Sarabhai launched a project for the cause o fabrication and launch of an Indian satellite.

In 1973, the international astronomical union convinced that a lunar crater, Bessel A. in the Sea of Serenity which is known as the Sarabhai crater. in 1949 Darpana was set up by Mrinalini and Vikram Sarabhai a dance academy. after some years, the great Kuchipudi guru, c R Acharyelu worked as the faculty. In 1947 we got independence with different new ideas to create an independent nation into a model democratic state for growth with equity and development of its people. One of such innovative ideas is Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad foundation. IIMA was founded by the group of individuals established by Vikram Sarabhai, Shri. Kasturbhai Lalbhai and with the support of Chief Minister of Gujarat, Jiviraj Mehta. Vikram Sarabhai inventions are many.
This was the collective group of five factors the governments at the center and the state, the industrialists from local, the Ford Foundation and the Harvard Business school, both in public and private partnership to set up the institute. He studied his college education in Cambridge after completion of his matriculation and chose to Natural Sciences from St.Johns College in 1940. When World war ii started, he came back to home and worked as the research scholar to Sir c.v.Raman at the Indian Institute of Science. His interest and research towards solar physics and cosmic ray led him to do more observation station among the country. He finished his Ph.D. in 1947 after returning to Cambridge in 1945. The year 1957-58 was found as International Geophysical year. He improved Indias space program, which is popular around the world.

Vikram Sarabhai Space centre is a major space research centre. vikram Sarabhai Space centre is also called as VSSC, It is an essential space centre of the INDIAN SPACE RESEARCH ORGANIZATION, ISRO. Vikram Sarabhai Space centre is situated in Thiruvananthapuram, in Kerala state India. It was formed in the year 1963, November 21st. Agency executive is K.Sivan Director.
